BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A large stretch of Interstate 65, south of Indianapolis, was shut down on Tuesday morning because of icy conditions, snow and a number of crashes on the roadway.

The Indiana Department of Transportation reported around 9:30 a.m. that all northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 65 were closed  between Exit 16 at Memphis and Exit 76 at Taylorsville.

After several hours, both directions have re-opened south of U.S. 31 (Exit 76) at Edinburgh and Taylorsville, but some counties along the corridor have declared travel watches and warnings, advising essential and emergency travel.
