INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A prayer vigil will remember victims of slayings during the past year in Indianapolis.

The Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis says the vigil will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Purpose of Life Ministries on the city’s west side.

The “Night for Life” service is part of the Global Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which ends Friday.

Indianapolis recorded 141 homicides last year. It’s the highest number of homicides the city has seen since 2006. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
