YORKTOWN, Ind. (WISH) – Yorktown High School Senior Chandler Carroll does it all – stars in wrestling, football and happens to be the valedictorian of his class.
“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that’s probably unheard of. It’s a strong credit toward his work ethic and his upbringing,” said Yorktown Assistant Wrestling Coach Troy Dulaney.
In December, Carroll got the honor of a lifetime for his accolades being selected as one of 100 kids from a pool of 49,000 applicants nationwide for the high school Heisman award. With it came a trip to New York City and a visit to the college Heisman Trophy ceremony, where he got to mingle with some of college football biggest stars.
“You look up to these guys, see them on television, but it’s real life. You get to meet with them and talk to them, share some daily experiences with them,” Carroll said.
