INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The 11th annual Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash took place Thanksgiving morning in Broad Ripple.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence and and First Lady Karen Pence were among those who took part in the race. A large group of firefighters in full fire gear also participated in the event.

Proceeds from the Drumstick Dash will help Wheeler Mission serve more than $300,000 meals and provide nearly 120,000 nights of lodging in 2013.

“This is amazing.  About 17 and a half thousand people are here to run and enjoy thanksgiving,” Chief Development Officer of Wheeler Mission, Steve Kerr, told 24-Hour News 8.

Several WISH-TV personalities took part in the celebrity race including Drew Blair, Troy Kehoe and Julie Patterson.

This year, IndyStyle’s Andi Hauser won the women’s portion of the celebrity race with a pace of 7:36.  It’s the fifth straight year a member of our team has taken the top prize.
