INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There was a celebration in downtown Indy Thursday night as Indy Eleven turned one year old. The team announced it was coming to Indianapolis a year ago Thursday.
“It’s almost unbelievable that a whole year has gone by and we’re finally getting close to the season,” said Indy Eleven president Peter Wilt.
Fans packed Chatham Tap alongside the team’s front office and head coach Juergen Sommer. The team is still working on its roster ahead of the team’s April 12 kickoff.
“(We’re) a little nervous right now, it’s closer than we think,” said Sommer. “We’re getting some more good signings on the roster, so we’re excited about that. The continued support that keeps growing for the team just really fuels everybody.”
