INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Plans for a new high rise on the old Market Square Arena site could take a big step forward Tuesday.

A developer wants to build a high rise with 300 luxury apartments at Market and Alabama streets.

The council’s economic development committee meets Tuesday night and could vote on the project.

If approved there, it’ll move on to the full council next week for a final vote.

Along with apartments, the plan calls for about 4,000 feet of retail space.

If passed, construction on the $81 million project would begin this spring. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
