INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – For a second year, the Central Indiana community showed its generosity as WISH-TV’s Daybreak team drove around collecting toys for The Salvation Army.

It’s an event called Tweet for Toys. For the month leading up to the collection day, local businesses, organizations and families tweet with #WISHTree and their location so we know they have toys to donate to local children.

On Wednesday, Daybreak’s Lauren Lowrey, Randy Ollis, Scott Sander and Julie Patterson split up into two teams and went to 20 locations to collect toys.

At the end of the toy collection, The Salvation Army said 2,181 toys were collected.

Toys will continue to be collected for The Salvation Army at The Indianapolis Zoo until 7 p.m. Wednesday, and again on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the Colts game starts at Lucas Oil Stadium. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
