GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) – The cold caused a water problem at the Greenwood courthouse Tuesday.
A water sprinkler burst in the ceiling in the atrium, causing water to rush into the building and toward the court offices.
Industrial-sized dryers were drying out the carpet on Tuesday.
Luckily, the fire department is right behind the courthouse. Firefighters were able to prevent major damage because the sprinkler burst during the day and a crew was right there to help.
“Along with some of the police department staff, we were able to squeegee the water out of the building and then soak up some of the water with the wet vac. Now we’re leaving it up to the professionals to get us dried out,” said Jim House, director of security for the courthouse.
The courthouse was expected to be fully operational Wednesday.
