NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – The cold snap has snapped more water lines. Crews worked to fix another water main on Wednesday. This time, the break was in Noblesville.
It happened at 141st and Marilyn Road on Wednesday afternoon but crews weren’t able to dig into the ground until around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. That’s when they replaced the pavement.
Crews blame the cold for the break.
People who live nearby were affected too. One neighbor sent 24-Hour News 8 a photo of a sign posted on his door on Wednesday, telling them to boil water, but as of late Wednesday night, he still did not have water.
Fire officials said only 17 Noblesville residents were affected. The people who need to boil water have been contacted.
This comes after several other major breaks in the area. People in Centerville, near Richmond, are still being asked to boil water after crews fixed eight water mains that broke on Tuesday. Those broken mains shut off water to the entire town.
Authorities there also blame the cold. They say the breaks happened so close together, the town’s two water towers drained completely.
In Rushville, because of a break Wednesday morning, people still have to boil water. Their Emergency Management Director says the break caused the water tower to not fill properly.
