Robbery puts hospital on lockdown

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)  – A scary ordeal early Thursday led to a hospital lock down. It started as a robbery.

Just before 2 a.m. metro police say a man was walking out of his apartment when an armed suspect approached him and forced him back into his apartment.

The gunman robbed the place and then forced the man to drive the two of them to an ATM at a nearby bank.

Investigators say the victim’s bank card did not work so the robber forced the victim to drive to a nearby apartment where the victim’s brother lived.

Police say the suspect held the victim , his brother and his brother’s wife all at gunpoint and then forced them all to drive to another ATM.

The victim told police the gunman gave orders to drop him off in the area of St. Vincent Women’s Hospital near Naab Road and Dugan.

St. Vincent was put on lock down for a period of time as a precaution.

The victims were unhurt but shaken up by the ordeal. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
