INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A grant is allowing the Indianapolis Animal Care and Control to offer lower adoption fees for dogs and cats.
Organizers say the reduced fees of just $10 begin on Feb. 1. The offer will run until the grant money is extinguished or until the end of the year.
The $10 fee includes initial vaccinations, spay or neuter, and a microchip for the dog or cat.
Officials are hoping the reduced fees will increase adoptions at the shelter, and thus reduce the number of animals that are euthanized.
“We have so many wonderful cats and dogs available for adoption, and all they need is a chance to become a lifelong loving pet. Please plan a visit to the shelter soon,” IACC’s Administrator and Chief, Dan Shackle, said.
Those interested in adopting a pet will be required to fill out an adoption application.
