Police release names of 2 killed in Hovey Street shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The two men who were killed in a shooting early Saturday morning were identified as Carlos Jefferson, 22 and Julius Douglas, 23, both of Indianapolis.

It happened a little before 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the 3400 block of North Hovey Street. That’s on the city’s northeast side near Keystone and Sutherland avenues.

IMPD was called to the scene after witnesses heard shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, they found two men who had been shot.

Both men, one found inside a truck, the other on the ground nearby, were pronounced dead at the scene.

IMPD tells 24-Hour News 8 they believe that this is not a random act and were looking into the possibility of this being drug-related.
