Family away as house burns

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Fire heavily damaged a home on the city’s northwest side early Monday.

Fire crews were called to the 3200 block of Voigt Court shortly after 3:15 a.m. Initially, it was feared that someone might still be inside the one story house.

Neighbors told police they believed the family was out of town. Firefighters conducted a search of the burning structure but didn’t find anyone. The flames were brought under control in just over an hour.

Damage is estimated at $70,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
