INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An ambulance was called to the scene of an east side crash Thursday morning that involved a vehicle and an IndyGo bus.

It happened in the area of 25th Street and East Ralston Avenue. Police say around 7:30 a.m., the bus and a Dodge Charger were both heading westbound on 25th Street. The driver of the Dodge told police he works overnight and was dozing off.

Police say the driver hit the back of the bus without braking. The bus was stopped to pick someone up.

Five to six people on the bus were injured. Three patients were taken to the hospital. No one had serious injuries, police say. The driver of the Charger was not transported to the hospital.

There was no word on whether or not the crash was related to the weather.

The roadway was back open at 8:25 a.m.
