LEBANON, Ind. (WISH) – Lebanon school officials confirm a Lebanon Middle School employee and two other men, were arrested on drug-related charges.
School officials say the employee has been “relieved of their duties until the investigation is complete.” The employee has been identified as the school nurse, Leah Rutan. She is currently on unpaid suspension.
Officials go on to say that the offense did not take place on school property.
“If the allegations are found to be true we will, of course, take the appropriate action. But, at this point, until the investigation is complete, we will make sure this employee is not around students or our schools,” Superintendent Robert Taylor said in a statement Thursday.
The charges stem from a search warrant that was served Wednesday. Police had received a number of calls saying Rutan had a lot of young people partying at her home in the 900 block of South Otter Drive. Police later revealed marijuana was present at the parties.
Rutan, her son Austin Rutan, and another man named Aaron Cline, were arrested.
Rutan faces charges of maintaining a common nuisance, neglect of a dependent, and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Her son faces charges of maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
Cline faces charges for dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
