FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A driver was critically injured in a two-car crash involving some apparent road rage near the entrance of Canterbury Green apartments on Friday afternoon.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, a car heading southbound on St. Joe Road rear-ended another car near Canterbury Boulevard, sending the first car into a snow bank.  The driver of the car that triggered the accident then got out the vehicle, walked up to a third car that was heading north and punched the windshield with such force that it broke, our sister station WANE reports.

The driver of the car that was rear-ended was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.  The driver of the second car was hospitalized in fair condition.  It’s not clear if that person’s injuries were from the initial crash or from punching the windshield of the third car.

Police said the driver who punched the windshield will be tested for possible drug and alcohol use.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, IPFW Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors office. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
