Police find meth lab, possible child porn at Indy home

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Neighbors say they’re concerned, after investigators found more than they’d expected when they executed a search warrant at a southwest side home Monday morning.

Investigators say members of a joint task force, Internet Crimes Against Children, were serving a search warrant on the 3300 block of West Mooresville Road, after suspecting child pornography at the house.

They found ingredients for a meth lab in a garage behind the home, and called in ISP’s Meth Suppression Unit to dismantle the lab.

Investigators arrested 41-year-old Sheridan Tom in connection to both the meth lab and the suspected child porn they also found in the home.

Neighbors say the suspected child pornography was the most alarming discovery.

“That was very surprising, shocking kind of. I wouldn’t have dreamed it,” said one neighbor.

“That makes me sick, to say the least,” said another.

State Police worked all day to dismantle and clean up the lab. They said it wasn’t active Monday, so neighbors weren’t in danger.

“Indiana itself has been increasing in the amount of meth labs over the past number of years,” said Nate Raney, Indiana State Police trooper.

State Police seized six labs in Marion County in 2011, only two in 2012, but 13 in 2013.
Marion County though, is low on the list when comparing it to other Indiana counties.
State Police seized 109 in Delaware County in 2013, and 62 in Monroe County.
