Woman hit by train in Anderson taken to hospital

ANDERSON, Ind. (The Herald Bulletin) — A woman was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after being hit by a train in downtown Anderson.

24-Hour News 8’s news partner The Herald Bulletin reports the incident happened on Central Avenue, between 14th and 19th streets around 12:45 p.m.

Police say the woman was struck by the oncoming train and suffered a serious head injury, but was conscious and responsive at the scene. She was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Police say her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
