LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – Officials with the Lawrence Police Department say traffic lights were back on after they were out for a good portion of the day Wednesday at a major intersection in Lawrence.

Police say the traffic lights were out at the intersection of Pendleton Pike and Sunnyside Road in Lawrence, a major commuter thoroughfare on the northeast side of the city.

Officials say the outage was the cause of a blown transformer. Around 6:35 a.m., Indianapolis Power and Light reported 1,079 customers were without power.

The traffic lights are now back operating. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
