INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Emergency crews responded to a serious crash on US 31 Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred on US 31 just north of Southport Road just after 1:15 p.m.

The driver of a Ruder rental truck told IFD crews he was delivering dog food when he witnessed two cars “tangle” in the southbound lanes of US 31. The cars then lost control and entered the northbound lanes.

One of the vehicles, a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, struck the back of the delivery truck. The driver of that Jeep was extricated and transported to Methodist Hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
