PUTNAM CO., Ind. (WISH) – Officials in Putnam County say one person was killed in a fatal crash on Intestate 70 early Sunday morning.

The crash shut the highway down in both directions for about two and a half hours from State Road 39 in Hendricks County to U.S. 231, which is just north of Cloverdale. All lanes reopened around 5:30 a.m.

Officials say a semi called police to report a car slid off the road and flipped in the median. The driver, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say roads in the area were extremely slick.
