INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A private ceremony will be held Sunday to remember two Indianapolis EMS medics who were killed in a crash exactly a year ago.

Police say EMT Tim McCormick, 24, had just finished a run and was on his way back to the hospital to restock along with Paramedic Specialist Cody Medley, 22.

Around 3:30 a.m. Feb. 16, their ambulance was hit by a car at the intersection of Senate Avenue and St. Clair Street. Authorities say the ambulance had the right-of-way.

McCormick died right after the crash. Medley was taken to the hospital in very critical condition and died the following day.

No charges were filed against the woman who was driving the car that crashed into the ambulance. She did tell police she was distracted by her GPS. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
