Driver sought after hit-and-run crash injures man

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Detectives with IMPD are looking for a suspect after a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday morning.

Police and medics were called to the 5700 block of Massachusetts Avenue at 3:45 a.m. on a report of an injured male lying beside the roadway. When officers arrived they found the man with serious injuries.

Detectives believe the victim was walking southwest on Massachusetts Ave. when he was hit from behind by a pickup truck traveling in the same direction. The driver of the truck slowed down, but did not stop to help the victim.

The victim was discovered by another driver passing by about 10 minutes after he was hit. He was taken to the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition.

The suspect vehicle is described as a light colored pickup truck, with possible front passenger side damage.
