FREMONT, Ind. (WANE) –  Investigators are trying to figure out what caused an explosion that destroyed a home early Thursday afternoon on Snow Lake with a blast so powerful it could be felt miles away.

A woman who lives there was not home at the time and there are not reports of anyone living nearby being injured.

According to Fremont Town Manager Chris Snyder, police and fire crews were called to the 1800 Block of West State Road 120 just after noon on a report of a house explosion.  When they arrived, the bathtub could be seen in front of what used to be the structure, our sister station WANE reports. Insulation from the home had been blown into nearby trees.   Snyder said one person who lives four miles away felt the blast.

Dick Bowman, the person who felt the explosion, said a dog managed to survive the blast.
