INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis International Airport  is taking steps to repair its parking garage faster.

Earlier this week, the canopy over the garage collapsed under snow and ice.

The company that built the canopy is required to fix it without charging the airport. But, on Friday, the airport met to declare what they call an emergency declaration. They still have to determine what caused the canopy to collapse.

State law says that declaration will let them hire another company to fix the problem right away if the company that built the canopy does not do it adequately. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
