WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A posthumous degree for Andrew Boldt has been approved.
Boldt was the victim in last month’s shooting at Purdue University. The Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Committee approved a posthumous degree in Electrical Engineering for Boldt.
Boldt met the requirements of having at least 85 percent of the credit hour requirement and completed most of the requirements for the major.
Trustee JoAnn Brouillette hopes granting the degree helps the healing process for both the Boldt and Purdue family.
“It was appropriate that this action be granted and our hearts go out to the entire family,” said Brouillete.
The Academic Affairs Committee also approved bringing on the chair of the University Senate as a non-voting member of the committee Thursday. Brouillete said it will allow the trustees to hear from a faculty member on certain issues.
