ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Anderson say a woman found dead Thursday was likely murdered.

24-Hour News 8 news partner The Herald Bulletin reports 42-year-old Julie Kappeler was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital on Thursday. Medical officials say they don’t believe she died of natural causes after they found unusual markings and wounds on her body.

Investigators say they are questioning a man who was released from the Madison County Jail Tuesday.

They say 40-year-old Gerveice Eugene Hopkins was charged with battery against Kappeler earlier this month.
