INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Give state governments more power. That’s just one of the messages Indiana Gov. Mike Pence sent to the president in front of a national audience on Sunday.
He joined three other governors on a discussion panel on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
The leaders – from Texas, Connecticut and Missouri – appeared on the show to talk about many topics including gun control, the death penalty and the minimum wage.
Host Candy Crowley also asked what they’d like President Barack Obama to hear this week during the National Governors Association’s winter meeting.
“I think the basic message is more freedom and more flexibility, Mr. President. Whether it be in the area of health care, whether it be in transportation or education I truly believe that the cure for what ails this country will come more from our nation’s state capitals than it ever will from our nation’s capital,” Pence said.
Pence and other governors from across the country were scheduled to dine at the White House Sunday night.
They meet with President Obama on Monday.
