Tanning ban bill heads to a House vote

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A bill to ban tanning for some teens is heading to the full House for a vote.

Right now, teens under age 16 have to have a parent’s permission to tan. But if the proposed bill becomes law, it would be illegal for a teen younger than age 16 to use tanning beds altogether.

Supporters cite health risks, especially to young people. Experts say 16- and 17-year-olds could still tan alone, so long as they have written consent from a parent.
