IPS board votes no on renewing 23 employee contracts

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Public Schools’ board voted against the renewal of 23 employee contracts during a meeting Tuesday night.

And that means people are losing their jobs. The 23 people will leave leadership positions at several IPS schools.

“It’s important to know that, correct, these are not terminations,” IPS Superintendent Dr. Lewis Ferebee said. “These are contract non-renewals. And the individuals can be rehired or be considered for other roles in the district.”

Right now, they are working in central service jobs with the district or as building administrators.
