“Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Indiana, but it is largely preventable if we take the right steps to lead a healthy lifestyle,” said Jim England, chairman of the board for the American Heart Association in Indianapolis. “A healthy diet is one of the primary things we can all do to improve our health and reduce our risk for heart disease. The American Heart Association is thrilled that this event will showcase healthy eating options, and we’re grateful to Sysco and Emmis Communications for their support.”
Get a Healthy Taste is February 27 in the Courses Restaurant in the Penthouse at Ivy Tech Corporate College and Culinary Center, located at 2820 North Meridian Street. Doors open at 7pm and parking is free. Tickets are $35 and available for purchase at

Egg White Crepes
1.5 c. All Purpose Flour
1 T. Granulated Sugar
1 pinch Ground Nutmeg
1 pinch Salt
2 c. Skim Milk
4 Egg Whites
3 T. Canola Oil
Non-stick Pan Spray
1.) Combine the first 5 ingredients and mix until smooth
2.) Add egg whites & oil and mix
3.) Heat a 8” fry pan over medium heat.
4.) Coat the pan with pan spray (or brush slightly with more oil)
5.) Ladle 1 ounce of crepe batter into the pan and roll the pan so the batter completely covers the bottom of the pan. If the pan sizzles and creates small holes in the crepe the heat is too high.
6.) When the edges of the crepe begin to brown turn the crepe and cook an additional 10 seconds.
7.) Fill with your favorite filling such as assorted berries.
