SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Despite the ongoing cold, three of Speedway’s restaurants were packed Friday night for the first annual Mardi Gras on Main Street pub crawl.

Each stop along Main Street served New Orleans-style fare, complete with oysters in a half shell. Dawson’s on Main, Barbecue and Bourbon, Lino’s Coffee and Dallara Indy Car Factory all participated in the event.

Organizers said they wanted to let people know Speedway isn’t just the place to be in May, but also year round. They said Mardi Gras, and hopefully spring,  is a great time to show off some of Speedway’s assets.

“I think actually the timing is perfect with another storm on the horizon. Just get out, celebrate what’s going on, and get ready to buckle down later this weekend,” Julie LaFore, CEO of Lino’s Coffee told 24-Hour News 8.

Live entertainment, such as a stilt walker and juggler, also took place at the event.

Organizers also took the opportunity to toast “Daredevil” Brewery, which will be making the move to Main Street. Construction is scheduled to start later this year.
