Crews work to prep for more snow

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indy Snow Force crews spent the overnight hours dropping salt and prepping roads for the upcoming winter storm.

The Department of Public Works says 90 drivers are working to treat bridges and roads.

According to Marc Lotter, Spokesman for the Mayor, snow is not the biggest concern for road crews. “Ice is the worst thing that could possibly happen, because it will affect tree limbs, which cause power outages. Obviously, it makes everything slick and there’s really nothing you can do; except to put salt down on the roads before-hand, and after, and then hope Mother Nature helps you to keep the roads from icing up.”

Once snow starts to coat city streets, DPW says crews will start plowing.

Drivers are scheduled to work around the clock until the last of the snow falls. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
