Runners train for Mini-Marathon

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Athletes are training for the One America 500 Festival Mini-Marathon.  A 10K race kicked off Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis.

The purpose is to allow participants a chance to gauge their progression in preparing for the mini.  Runners will get to be on part of the actual course and practice using water stations.

Tim Bingham is one of the participants at the training event,  “I think it’s very important. It just gets you to the point where you can confidently go to the 13.1. Everybody starts somewhere. You start at mile one and you’ve got to get to 13. This just gauges you throughout the process, you know how far you are.”

This is the second of three training events for the May 3rd race. The final training event is a 15K on April 5th. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
