SULLIVAN, Ind. (AP) — A southwestern Indiana fire chief says he expects the state fire marshal to issue findings later this week in an apartment tower fire that killed one resident and injured 18 others.

Sullivan Fire Chief Rob Robertson says the cause of the fire Thursday at Sunrise Towers hasn’t been determined yet.

The Sullivan Housing Authority operates the complex. Executive Director Don Hunt tells the Sullivan Daily Times the person who died in the fire, 72-year-old Bruce Thompson, originally was from the town of Merom and had lived at the towers for about 10 years.

Hunt says the fire was contained to one apartment.

The fire forced the evacuation of residents from about 90 rooms in the complex about 80 miles southwest of Indianapolis. Most have been able to return.
