COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — The boyfriend of a woman whose 19-month-old died from head injuries will spend more than 20 years in prison.

A Bartholomew County judge sentenced Thomas Gorski Tuesday afternoon to 16 years for neglect of a dependent and 12 years for attempting to deal a narcotic drug. He was given credit for 301 days.

Gorski and his girlfriend, Rachel McCue, were arrested after Evan Jack McCue died in November at Columbus Regional Hospital. His mother had taken him to the hospital when he was unresponsive and wasn’t breathing. An autopsy revealed bruises covering his body and a skull fracture behind his left ear.

Tuesday’s sentencing came after Gorski pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement. McCue’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 31. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
