RUSH COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) —  A Rush County elementary school had to dismiss students early on Wednesday because of a small fire in the school, Rush County police dispatchers said.

The fire was at Arlington Elementary School. The fire was confined to the mechanical room, but firefighters had to shut off the electricity.

Students were initially taken to a nearby church, but it was later decided to send them home. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

24-Hour News 8’s newsgathering partner the Rushville Republican reports the school will remain closed Thursday for repairs. Parents and students will contacted when the school reopens through the school notification system.
