KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – She’s the fast talking, spunky contestant on this season of Survivor, but what some may not know is that Lindsey Ogle is also a wife, mother and hair stylist from Kokomo.
There have been more clients than chairs at Fade Salon in Kokomo lately.
“We’ve been really busy. It’s been awesome,” said Lindsey Ogle.
The weather has taken a back seat in conversation to owner Lindsey Ogle’s latest experience.
“I’m known as the tough brawny girl. When I feel like someone’s out to get me, I’m going get you back and I’m going to get you ten times harder.”
After sending an audition tape to CBS for a different show, Ogle got a call back a half hour after it was seen.
They wanted her for Survivor, a reality competition show to outwit and outlast other competitors.
“I was going to be really strict, like if someone does this then I’m going to do this, and I had all these different scenarios in my head of like, ‘I’m going to be super slick and super sly and I’m just going to slide around past them. Nothing is going to bother me.’ And then I get out there and I’m like, ‘You’re a jerk! You’re totally a jerk!’ And then I’d fall apart,'” said Ogle.
Unbeknownst to everyone on the show, this year contestants were split into three teams: Beauty, Brains and Ogle’s team, Braun.
“I own a hair salon so it’s like, ‘Oh I wasn’t on the beauty tribe,’ and all my clients are like, ‘Oh my gosh Lindsey, I can’t believe you weren’t on the beauty tribe.'”
But Lindsey, a former college basketball player, says it fits her. Watching the show back now, with the rest of the world, is a surreal experience.
“It’s so real. There’s no fake parts about it. You’re actually experiencing that and it’s actually much worse than what it looks like on TV,” said Ogle.
As for as how far Lindsey gets in the show all she’ll say for now is, “I tried as best as I can and I’m proud of what I did.”
