INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department made an arrest in a deadly hit and run.

IMPD detectives say a 7-month-old baby boy killed in a hit-and-run Tuesday night. The baby was not buckled into his car seat.

Investigators say the two vehicles were eastbound on 38th Street near I-65 when one vehicle struck the other from behind. Police say the rear vehicle ended up in a ditch and the two occupants took off running from the scene.

Thursday, officers arrested 30-year-old Gary Shinnamon II of Indianapolis. He is preliminarily charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in death and two counts of driving while license suspended. He turned himself in to his attorney’s officer Thursday afternoon.
