Baby’s death brings renewed car seat awareness

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Early Wednesday morning, a 7-month-old baby died after the car he was riding in was rear-ended by a hit and run vehicle on the city’s west side.

Investigators revealed the baby boy was not strapped into his car seat properly at the time of the accident.

According to officials, the accident brought about renewed interest in IFD’s Car Seat Program.

The program schedules car seat installations and runs by appointment only.

According to the agency’s spokeswoman, 11 new people signed up for their program.
