INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – This year, there is a new way to enjoy Indy 500 race weekend and celebrate warmer weather- it’s called “glamping”.
The word refers to “glamorous camping” and it involves a tent of a different kind. IMS officials say “glamping is a way to experience the great outdoors without roughing it.”
A limited number of the luxury camping spots will be in the IMS infield and open to the public for the first time. Race-goers can rent a queen bed, twin bed or cot-filled tents.
Packages include a parking pass and Carb Day and Race Day general admission tickets.
Extra amenities include private restrooms, cell phone charging stations and a community grilling area. The tents cost about $600 to $900.
