INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and Butler University Police Department were investigating a string of armed robberies near Butler and in the Broad Ripple area.

Butler University officials say two of the robberies took place south of campus, near 44th Street and Clarendon Road. The victims in those robberies were Butler students.

Another robbery occurred near Broad Ripple in the 6100 block of Guilford and the 6400 block of Cornell Ave.

Police identified a suspect vehicle and later arrested two people in connection with the robberies. Officers say 18-year-old Gabriel Leschat of Indianapolis was arrested and charged with robbery, along with a 17-year-old juvenile.

“I would like to thank the Robbery Unit and North District uniformed officers for the eventual capture of these suspected serial robbers”, said IMPD Chief Rick Hite “the community has again provided critical information that helped our detectives quickly remove dangerous individuals from our community”.
