TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Tippecanoe County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a vehicle slammed into a home late Thursday night.
It happened at 11:27 p.m. in the 200 block of Furlong Drive. That’s in a neighborhood off Veterans Memorial Parkway near Meijer.
Deputies got the call from the homeowner after a vehicle smashed through a wall, even hitting a car inside the garage with enough force to move it. It somehow was able to back out and drive off into the night without being seen, though deputies say evidence was left behind including broken fog lights and a mirror. The vehicle also knocked over a neighbor’s tree and destroyed a couple mailboxes.
“It’s a very minor curve. The pavement is not slick at all, so we’re very curious to know what happened to result in a vehicle go through a house,” said Dep. Randy Martin.
No one was injured. Friends and the Red Cross were on scene helping the homeowner.
Deputies arrived on the scene within about five minutes but were unable to locate the vehicle. They believe it will have heavy damage to its front end.
