INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A vehicle crashed into a tree and a person was shot following the closure of a large juvenile party Saturday night.
Officers shut down the party at Brickhouse Fitness, in the 4400 block of Lafayette Road, because there were between 300 and 400 people at the party and the business was charging admission for people to get in, which violates city ordinances, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said. It was also a fitness club, so it didn’t have the correct fire safety for the type of event it was hosting.
As a result of the closure, police believe some of the party-goers went to another location, where some sort of disagreement happened. Officers were told one vehicle chased another firing shots until they got to the area of the Colts complex and Eagle Creek Park, in the 7000 block of West 56th Street. There, the vehicle that reportedly was chased crashed into a tree and two people ran from the vehicle.
Police found one person with a gunshot wound to the leg and a bullet graze wound to the head. He was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
