24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic reports the dog’s owner called 911 after his 3-year-old border collie wandered off and ended up in the icy water.

A group of neighbors gathered as a firefighter got into the water, tethered to the shore with a rope.

The dog appeared to have mild hypothermia after being in the water about 15 minutes, but firefighters were able to get the dog to shore.
