GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – Two Greenfield restaurant owners were taken to jail on Monday after it was discovered they were serving alcohol at their business without a permit.
Yee Yi Zhao, 51, and Ying Chen Zhao, 42, are the owners of the Bamboo Garden Buffet located at 2160 North State Street. They were arrested on a preliminary charge of maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony.
Officers started investigating the restaurant in late February when it was discovered that alcoholic beverages were being sold there without a permit.
Police say the restaurant previously had an alcoholic beverage permit but it expired in August 2012 and was never renewed. The status of the permit was ruled inactive by the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission, a release said.
