BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana State Police responded to a fatal crash that occurred in Bartholomew County on Tuesday night.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 65, at the 75 mile marker, police dispatchers said around 8:20 p.m. The crash involved a semi and a car. Police say the semi was slowing down for other crashes reported in the area, when the car came up and crashed into the rear of the semi.
Police said northbound traffic was shut down at the 68 mile marker while a medical helicopter landed.
State Police said there had been a number of crashes between the 75 and 80 mile markers earlier in the evening. Nobody was hurt in those crashes.
It wasn’t immediately clear when the interstate would re-open. Around 11:15 p.m., State Police Versailles said lanes were still shut down.
