VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI/WISH) – Shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, a Sullivan County ambulance returning from a medical run to Indianapolis was involved in a crash.
Officials say the driver of that ambulance attempted to pass a semi in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70, near the 12 mile marker, when a gust of wind started to blow the ambulance off the roadway.
The driver then overcorrected and flipped the vehicle several times. The driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Indiana State Police say they were able to extricate themselves from the overturned ambulance.
There were no patients on board at the time of the crash.
