FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police arrested a man after they say he slammed his pregnant girlfriend’s head against a wall and punched her in the face and stomach.

According to an affidavit for probable cause, Robert L. Harris, 31, of Fort Wayne, went to his girlfriend’s house at around 5 a.m. on March 8 and knocked on her front door. When the victim answered the door, she said Harris punched her in the face and then in the stomach. The victim told police Harris then “punched her head into the wall” several times.

Our sister station WANE reports the victim’s two children were sleeping in the living room while Harris was beating her.

When officers arrived at the victim’s home, Harris fled out a back window but police caught him shortly after.

According to court documents, the victim is four months pregnant with Harris’ child.
