COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (AP) — Police say a pickup struck and killed a man who was shoveling snow at the end of the driveway at his northeastern Indiana home.

Whitley County authorities say 69-year-old Marvin Kinney was hit Wednesday while shoveling outside his home along Indiana 205 in a rural area a few miles from Columbia City. He was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital, where he was pronounced dead from head and internal injuries.

Police say the pickup truck lost control and slid into Kinney. The Post & Mail and WANE-TV report officers cited the 41-year-old driver of the pickup truck for driving left of center and at an unreasonable speed. Police say slush and ice on the road contributed to the crash. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
